Why Is It Important To Learn Martial Arts?

The reason why it's important to learn martial arts is that it's a good thing to know if you need to defend yourself. Moreover, karate can help build up your confidence which can help you in every aspect of your life.

Furthermore, teaches you discipline and a non-quitting spirit. When projects, work, and everything seems like it's falling apart around you. You just need that self-discipline and that non-quitting spirit to keep going in the toughest times.

Honestly, I don't think I could have stood up to those bullies without building up my self-confidence, discipline, and non-quitting spirit. The other day my mom and I were both agreeing that enrolling me in karate was one of the best things for me.

Can You Teach Yourself Martial Arts

Can You Teach Yourself Martial Arts?

We all know there are so many YouTube videos out there on the web. However, in my opinion, I don't think it's wise to teach yourself karate for a few reasons.

  • You can't interact with your Sensei or instructor

  • You might teach yourself the wrong martial arts technique

That's why it is important to find a martial arts school and a martial arts instructor to help teach you correctly.

In my opinion, I believe that mixed martial arts can help with anxiety. The reason why I believe that is because sometimes before a big speaking event or podcast interview I feel nervous. My heart starts racing and my hands become sweaty.

But I always tell myself there is nothing to worry about. When I am being interviewed on a podcast or speaking to a crowd I like to pretend that I am on the mat at karate. Once the bell rings I give it my all and I don't look back.

What Are The Fitness Benefits Of Karate?

Karate is a full-body workout meaning every part of the body is worked. If that is not enough after 8 rounds of kickboxing class then it's right into strength training. Man oh man I have a love-hate relationship with burpees and inchworms. Those exercises are brutal but very effective.

Discipline - Week after week I keep showing up whether I am blogging or podcasting and providing content that I hope everyone likes. When I take a week off or a few weeks off it's hard to come back to making content. But I invested a lot of time and money into my business so I keep showing up.

How The Martial Arts Have Helped Me?

I don't know where I would be without a karate class. My martial arts journey has never been easy. In fact, there are some nights when I am tired and I don't want to go.

But I remind myself that I am the only one who lets myself down and I will have to look in the mirror at night. I will have to ask myself do I like who I see that is staring back?

Even though it is a tough sport and exercise, I am glad that I am a martial artist. Here's a fun fact about me. When I first moved to PA, I have been practicing martial art back in New Jersey where I was I was born. I was a young martial arts student.

When I had to move to PA I felt upset because I was going to leave all of my friends behind in New Jersey and I was afraid I would have to say goodbye to Karate.

When I moved to PA I found Tiger Shulmann karate. After years of training, I had to take a step away from karate due to medical reasons. I was only two belts away from my black belt.

After 10 years of being away from Karate, I found the same Sensei that I started with when I first moved to PA. During some of that time off I was doing the same boring exercise each and every week.

I wanted to go back to karate because I want my black belt, but I also needed some kind of combat sports to help challenge the physical fitness and strength that I have acquired over the years of working out.

I enjoy the martial arts program that I am a part of. I have made new friends there and I have learned a lot about nutrition from my Sensei.

Is It Worth Learning Martial Arts

Is It Worth Learning Martial Arts?

I would say it is worth it because it has helped me in many aspects of my life so far. But is it worth it? That is up to you to decide. But here are some things to think about when you decide if it's worth it.

  • Ask yourself can I afford it?

  • Instead of thinking, I don't have time for it, make time for it in your schedule. We all have the same number of hours in the day.

  • Ask yourself do I need more discipline in my life?

  • Can I benefit from a consistent schedule?

If you can answer yes to all or some of these questions then Karate is totally worth it.

Conclusion:

Karate has many benefits that can help you in every aspect of your life. It has helped me to build a strong mindset and perhaps it can also help you. Let me know your thoughts on karate in the comments below.
