Frequently Asked Questions
What is adaptive fitness for neurodivergent individuals?
Adaptive fitness is about creating personalized movement routines that accommodate neurodivergent needs, such as sensory sensitivities, energy fluctuations, and individual limitations, rather than conforming to a one-size-fits-all approach.
Why does traditional gym culture fail autistic adults?
Traditional gym culture can be overwhelming for autistic adults due to its often loud, crowded, and socially demanding environment, which can clash with sensory processing differences and lead to burnout.
How can I build sustainable fitness habits that honor my body?
Focus on gentle, autism-friendly fitness by respecting your sensory needs, energy levels, and daily limitations. Prioritize sustainable routines over rigid discipline and celebrate small, achievable steps.
What role does mindset play in neurodivergent fitness?
Mindset shifts, such as believing fitness is possible for everyone and respecting your body's current state, are more impactful than focusing solely on discipline for long-term success.

Unknown Speaker (3:24): Started running, and eventually over time, it was like, oh my goodness, this is my moment. If I was able to do this, and doctors told me that if I did this, I'd actually damage my spine and I was never allowed to do this again, but here I am getting off my pain medication. I wanted to help other people do the same. So whether that is an injury a person's trying to overcome, whether that's disease that they're struggling with, whether that's limiting beliefs, whether that's a particular condition, I truly believe that fitness is possible for everyone. There is a way to do it.
Unknown Speaker (3:57): If you believe that you can and you find the right tools and more importantly, you respect your body as to where you are, everything is possible.
Unknown Speaker (4:05): I totally agree with what she said, especially the part where, where fitness is for
