Fitness Guys, Healthy Living podcast
0:02
I am my friend here, Monica, and she's going to introduce herself, and then we're going to go from there
0:09
Welcome aboard, Monica. Hi, Jimmy, and thank you for having me here on your podcast
0:16
Amazing. I'm Monica, as you said, Monica Bodera, joining you from London in the United Kingdom
0:25
and my accent comes from Poland where I was born, brought up
0:30
and I moved to live in London in 2000, I believe. So if you count my years, it's nearly half of my life
0:42
I've been here nearly here for half of my life. So yes, I run a spiritual awakening circle platform
0:52
for people who are on a spiritual path and who are also providers of guidance
1:00
that's spiritual, personal development guidance. And I'm a mom, and that's what makes me most happy and proud
1:08
So how did you come up with the whole thing for your spiritual group
1:16
I had my personal experience, which was certainly about spiritual awakening. And that was around the time my son was born
1:30
And out of the darkness, the light came through, shines through. So I had rather difficult personally time
1:39
And all sorts of experiences started happening. I couldn't make much sense out of it while it was happening
1:47
Apart from the fact that I've reviewed my life completely, I've changed the many ways I've conducted my life in
1:58
and I've realized that there is more to mind and body. There is something called soul and I've connected
2:08
And while I was in within that process, I invested a lot of time and money as well
2:13
into my personal and spiritual development. And while I was exploring and seeking new connections
2:21
and people and trainers who were taking me that extra step forward
2:27
And I came across a lady called Nikki DiGirolamo, who is a British lady based in Italy
2:35
We were talking on the phone a lot, and we realized that we are at the point where we are both available
2:42
to start doing something within that niche. And I was certainly super
2:51
excited. We've just got into the first lockdown. So there was no option to travel to Italy
2:59
She runs retreats there. I was absolutely amazed by the location of what I've seen online
3:05
And the only option to do something together was a digital platform. And that's how the Facebook
3:12
groups, Virtual Awakening Circle, came to live. And of course, I managed to go to Italy and see her in real
3:21
life we've had three or four meetings in between lockdowns because as you might know we are
3:27
in a second in the second lockdown again in London but yes that's so that so it was an answer to
3:35
my need to start a different career different professional path and as as you know those things happen
3:48
when we need them. So that was my connection with Nikki and somehow
3:54
we came with that plan to do something really helpful for others
4:00
and I think that's how we continue just to provide some help, some support for people
4:06
who experience the variety of challenges on that path. And so what do you discuss
4:14
about in a spiritual group? It's mainly a platform for connections. So we've got about 4,500 members, and they come from all over the world
4:29
And what we as Admin's do is we provide them some useful nuggets of wisdom or advice
4:38
We invite them to discussion, to sharing their experiences. and outside of our control, obviously, discussions happen and so people connectively
4:53
So it's about exchanging experiences because some of those experiences can be unsettling
4:59
We are not taught at school what spiritual awakening is, how to handle a certain sort of more difficult
5:13
part of the process and and if we reach out and ask we'll get answers and that's what this group
5:21
is mainly used for and uh how many uh people are part of your group four and a half thousand
5:32
fifty percent i would say a fifth cent are members uh of our members are from the u s
5:43
30% will be from the UK and 20% are members from Australia, India, other parts of Europe
5:55
Poland, my native Poland, I've been doing some work with the Polish community and I'm just seeing new influx of Polish people joining in
6:05
So, yes, it's very international group and it's still growing. Jeez. How many years have you been doing it
6:19
We have, well, what was it? It's coming to the first anniversary in April
6:26
I seem to remember the 8th of April as our start date
6:32
So yeah, so nearly a year. It feels like we've been doing it for the last 20 years
6:36
I know that feeling. I have two milestones coming up as well on April 12th
6:49
April 12th would be Crazy Fitness Guy's fourth birthday. And it would be my podcast first birthday
7:01
Well, beautiful. Amazing. So you kept it going for the last four years
7:06
Yeah, four years, which, uh, well, it's good. Routily long four years
7:14
Yes. Yeah well it is one thing to start but then keeping it going is the other challenge Yeah I thought it would be a walking on park No
7:29
Why I wish. Yes, yes. But you get to speak to nice people like me
7:36
Yeah. I do like speaking. I do like speaking to a lot of people and I like podcasting more than I do
7:46
writing on my website at times just because the algorithms change every I read a statistic that
7:54
Google updates their algorithm like over 400 plus times a year and like overkill oh my god that's that's
8:04
more than once per day yeah pretty much oh my gosh you see sometimes ignorance is a blessing as
8:11
they say and I'm and I'm quite ignorant on those matters So thank you for letting me now
8:18
Now I'm not going to have a sleep last night. Yeah, there's some days where I just feel like just ripping my side down
8:26
Yank. So what are your goals for your group
8:40
To help as many people as possible. So that's the overall goal for what we do with the group
8:51
We have other ideas on how to develop the concept and how to obviously run a business as well
9:02
But the business side is connected mainly to our retreats base in Italy
9:09
central Italy in Abu Zerbollah. we have a we are building a eco-eco spiritual village and of course we can't really travel freely
9:20
so it's on hold but that's that's our plan for making it more business-like for the group the plan
9:33
is really to build it as as keep building it keep building it if it's if it comes to you know
9:41
700,000. That's great. It will be wonderful. But it is about helping people, giving them the platform to connect
9:49
And our major challenge, I would say, is to keep that platform safe and safe in terms of
9:59
not letting people who might prey on vulnerability of the process. people maybe not aware what is expected, what kind of service might help them
10:15
So mine, it's a little petty hate of mine, but I need to remove people from the group and
10:21
when they don't behave. And when I mean don't behave is when they try to sell things like card reading, spells
10:30
and it's useful and great, but we know whom we would like to recommend
10:39
We trust those people and when they come without any verification, it just becomes quite, for me personally
10:47
it's a huge responsibility to have that platform with people seeking their support
10:52
and having someone who offers that support without prior knowledge of me and Nikki
11:00
And so that's a challenge, but the plan is to grow it, keep growing it and connecting
11:09
That's one of my goals, too, is to keep growing my group. Currently I have like 35 people in the group, but I just, I kind of, it's funny, I started off with my group sometime last year
11:29
and then I was going to try to transition because I didn't feel like a Facebook group
11:39
was feasible and possible for me to run but then but I got no one else to join the group
11:49
on this other platform and so I was like I'm going to take this thing down
11:54
and after taking it down for a little bit I kind of jumped everything back to Facebook and a lot of people started joining and I like
12:13
yeah a lot of people started joining and they got more interest in the group and I was like wow
12:21
and it's like so it doesn't do well on one platform go back to where all began and I was like
12:28
now they're interested. Yes, sometimes it takes a full circle, doesn't it
12:34
Vicious circle. It's interesting. Can be, yeah, can be when you run around it
12:42
But are you aware of Clubhouse? Yeah. I think we had this conversation
12:48
I think I did ask you, yes. Just to add to the availability of different platforms
12:57
there was this new kid on the blog, the clubhouse, and that is additional time and effort
13:05
which I've decided to develop. Oh gosh, it's now I think it is my
13:15
it might be my vicious circle that I move to a different platform
13:19
developing it from scratch basically. But what I will tell you, it's a massive platform
13:25
it's very vibrant, is very dynamic. So that development happens much quicker
13:29
than what I've seen on Facebook. I'm still hoping to get on Clubhouse
13:40
because, but I'm still waiting for the Android app to come now
13:45
I can afford an Apple phone. Nor do I want an Apple phone
13:52
Yeah, well, they are. they are coming with an Android version very soon
13:58
So that will add a huge influx of new users, I'm sure
14:06
Yeah, like I. Someone was telling me. I was going to say that a few people were telling me
14:16
that the Clubhouse for Android is not going to come out until sometime later
14:27
a few months later in the year. I was like, well, that's very specific
14:34
Yeah. You know, that's actually Clubhouse. You don't get any specific. It like I think the founders the developers are literally creating as they go So we are there on the platform already and they are still creating it and finding their ways around it
14:54
So it's a very interesting time to be on it. Someone was telling me about the statistics about iPhone users, specifically for Poland
15:05
I'm sure other countries will have different statistics, but apparently it's only 10
15:10
of the mobile users who have iPhones. So, yeah, so with Android app up being available
15:21
I'm sure that that platform will grow quite quickly. And I've heard as well, actually, there was Mark Zackenbeck on Clubhouse last week
15:33
And he's talking about his audio app for Facebook. So Clubhouse will have a competition soon
15:45
That's just dumb. It's difficult to continue with what we've got, I know
15:54
Yeah, we need Facebook's version. That's going to work. Some of this stuff don't work
16:05
It doesn't work. yeah i've i seem to uh i mean i've never used marketplace i think facebook has a marketplace
16:13
some some sort of shop yeah never used it i've never used um and i've recently seen something
16:20
like a facebook dating i was like gosh no not either it is oh my god i thought well i must be dreaming
16:29
um but apparently so so still not using that I was like, if I'm not going to put in my relationship status on Facebook, yeah, no thanks
16:43
I'm not going to trust you with my dating life. Yes, yes
16:48
Literally, that's what they, I guess, do. Just get the information from users and develop all the apps for them
16:58
But, wow, we are where we are. As I'm saying, I'm using a lot of clubhouse
17:06
now which is taking time. Facebook is growing, which is great, and I don't see Facebook going anywhere
17:15
But because Clubhouse is integrated with Twitter and Instagram, the side effect is I'm growing Instagram
17:23
So which I don't know about you. Do you use Instagram? Yeah, I use Instagram
17:30
Yeah, I've been seeing people when growing their Instagram like crazy. on some numbers and it's like, can I get a pause of the action
17:41
Yes. Yes. It's time and effort again, Jimmy. It's just, oh, it is time and effort
17:52
And patience. Oh, that one too. Yes. Yes. Which sometimes I don't have
18:02
Now you're doing absolutely great. I'm very impressed. of your business and, you know, what you do is just great
18:13
It's funny. I got, so how many, so do you have a website for your
18:20
for your spiritual group? Yes, we do, actually. It's exactly the same name, spiritual awakening circle
18:29
I mean, who would like to register such a long name, but we did? So it's spiritualawakening circle.com
18:35
wishing you like typing it all. So we have a website with more information on different plans
18:46
I'm currently developing online courses for people who want to have more than a free platform
18:52
I didn't mention that the group is all free, that the content is available for free
18:58
But for those who want to deepen the guidance, the knowledge, the training
19:05
that's what is going to happen for them. They will have options through us
19:10
and through all the amazing teachers who are part of the platform as well
19:16
So there will be information about that. And we also have a program
19:23
to support those spiritual business or intuitive business people. So that's where we take a view
19:32
to help them with visibility help them with again going back to retreats in Italy
19:40
There was a program and I can't wait when we can travel again
19:44
because this is really exciting meeting people in real life. And I'm not complaining, it's great
19:52
I can see you, we can talk and we can connect. The same with the group of people I'm working with
20:00
But there is nothing better than meeting people in real life. from my point of view
20:07
I agree with that. I'm looking forward to being able to travel again
20:17
I'm hoping. It's funny, I just got this offer. It wasn't really an offer
20:28
but this guy that interviewed me a while back, I think sometimes like last month, I forget the exact date
20:39
But I remember it was this month? I don't know. But he said I would be a good fit for this panel discussion that has so many meetings a year
20:58
And he thinks that I should sit on this panel and provide
21:04
feedback to provide feedback to this organization and and once
21:15
we get out of this pandemic I'd be able to travel to the different meeting locations
21:20
and everything and I'm like sounds interesting that's amazing and
21:30
and it was kind of like it was kind of daunting to me
21:34
today because I'm it is since it's like my first week back from spring break I just like everything
21:43
kind of just piled up on my desk like one thing after the other and like yeah this is fun
21:49
I was like one thing I learned so far as being an entrepreneur is like take one week off you you
21:57
come back and there a few a few things that doesn work correctly and like my newsletter to all I like awesome And it like why am I giving these people my business and I not going to give them my business anymore my whole point was just like everything
22:18
you just kind of came crashing to me at once and today when I got that email
22:23
and it's like can I do this? Can I handle this? I don't know
22:28
and then I had to remind myself and it's like just because you submit the application
22:33
doesn't mean you're going to get picked. And it's like, it's not like a, hang it
22:38
It's like it's kind of like a job application, but it's not a full-time job
22:43
It's just, it is, I be speaking to these people giving feedback
22:50
I don't know exactly. I don't have all the ends and nuts and everything. But what they said on their website is that they have these different meetings
23:00
I'd be invited to. I get to share my and they would compensate me for my time
23:07
and my travel expenses might have I get to ever travel again
23:13
and I was like I might have to do this because I want to get the heck out of this
23:19
I was like it's not that I don't like my house or the state that I live in but it's like
23:25
can I travel somewhere? I was like I'm antsy as heck to get out of here
23:29
absolutely and that's that's that's a really good way of having both your your career
23:39
developed further while you are traveling i mean perfect combination yeah and this guy also said to me
23:47
who interviewed me i was like oh you meet a lot of connections and uh he'll be and you'll be thankful to
23:57
have these connections like, oh, well, now the suspense is like killing me. I was like, I must do it now
24:08
Yes. Yeah. Well, when the opportunity knocks the door, we should take it regardless if we are
24:14
ready or not. That's what I've been. And that's what my, my sort of experience as someone who
24:21
run own business is, it's continuously proving to be right. It's, you don't ask
24:29
when you get an offer, you justAST and you keep fingers crossed
24:33
It's all happening. I keep fingers crossed for you because it sounds really good
24:38
Now, how are you with traveling? Are you good? Yeah. I'm good with traveling
24:47
I travel once by myself. Actually, unless we can't me and go back and forth from the shore to my shorehouse
24:55
I've traveled multiple times by myself, but on a new. airplane. I traveled once by myself to see my, one of my best friends at his house in
25:09
Nebraska when he was living in Nebraska. Now he's back in Pennsylvania. But I, yeah, he's
25:18
yeah, I'm pretty good at traveling. I've been traveling for me. I went on different vacations
25:28
with my family member. sometimes I hated traveling because I don't know just because I carry a lot of luggage
25:39
every time I go to my shorehouse I bring my two laptops with me
25:44
and it's not because it's just work or anything I just I don't know
25:52
I have one computer that is like literally a tank and by running by a tank
25:59
it's a gaming laptop so I play my video games on it
26:03
where the other one I can play video games on it is too but I
26:07
notice that the fan is a lot louder than this one of the games I play on it
26:16
it's a heavy game the computer can handle it but gaming laptop
26:22
is like think of it's like cutting butter it's like it literally can just handle anything and everything
26:30
And it's like, yeah, I always have to bring this computer with me
26:35
I was like, even though it's a lot heavier and a lot bigger, it's like, I've got to take it with me
26:41
Like, nothing can surpass this thing. Well, then you are agreeing to the compromise of carrying the weight of it
26:52
Yeah. You see, I think that those little comforts, which we have
26:57
traveling little things which make our traveling more comfortable or kind of give us that
27:06
sense of familiarity yeah that computer is something you are so attached to in a way of wherever
27:12
you are you feel like i'm presuming you feel like at home because that's the part of experience
27:19
you you are so familiar with yeah so before we wrap up where can people find you on social
27:27
media and everything. People can find me on Spiritual Awakening Circle Facebook
27:36
One of the admins. So if anyone types Monica, probably Monica, with the K, of course, with the K
27:45
will be the first one appearing there. I'm on Facebook. My profile is there as well, personal profile
27:54
So Monica. dot Boderra. And I'm on Instagram with my name. There is spiritual awakening circle on Instagram
28:04
And now I'm on Clubhouse as well. So I'm on quite a few platforms
28:10
But the best one, the best one for me is to reach out through spiritual awakening circle
28:15
Facebook group on Messenger. I check my requests now. You know, when you are not friends with people
28:24
Facebook doesn't allow you to see the message. it just puts it in the request folder
28:30
But nowadays, since I've had quite a few situations when I was expecting something
28:36
or someone getting touch and I couldn't see the message. And I thought, ha, there is their request folder
28:42
There were all the people who are not friends with me would go to
28:51
So I do tend to check it. So it's a good little habit of created
28:56
check the request as well. Definitely. Well, thanks for being here and let's stay in touch
29:05
Thank you so much, Jimmy, always. And thank you as well for being a great guest on my podcast
29:12
quite a few months back. So thank you. Or stay in touch and I would love to hear about your traveling job
29:21
That would be great. If I get it. Well, when you get it
29:26
If I'm when, I get it. Yeah, I'll be the positive one
