Summer is quickly approaching and I don’t know if we will get a typical summer because of this coronavirus.  But today I want to talk about how to get your body ready for summer, with some products that I recommend and use.  Plus it’s a good time to pick out some fathers day gifts to help get dad into shape as well.

The short answer to this question is that there is no such thing as fast when it comes to losing weight.  It took me 90 days just to lose 30 pounds with P90X.  The healthy way to lose weight is around 1 to 2 pounds per week.  


Anything more could hurt your chances of keeping that weight off after you lost all that weight.  Look what happened with some of those people on The Biggest Loser.  For some, they regained the weight because they were losing too much weight all at once.  They were also working out 8 hours per day.  That’s really unhealthy.

How To Get In Summer Shape?

The way you get into summer shape is by dialing in your nutrition and exercising regularly.  Of course, it’s easier said than done but trust me I got you covered with some amazing tools.

Everyone likes their water at different temperatures.  I like drinking my water cold and that’s why I really like my Hydro Flask.  It can keep cold and hot beverages at those temperatures for longer times than other water bottles.  The longer it stays cold the more water that I drink throughout the day.

How To Get In Shape At Home Before The Summer?

A lot of people think they need a gym just to lose weight.  Who knows whether or not some gyms will be able to stay in business after this pandemic.  So don’t put all of your eggs in one basket if you know what I mean. Here are some of my favorite ways to stay in shape at home.

You will hear me talk about Beachbody on Demand over and over again because I am passionate about it.  It has truly changed my life for the better.  Beachbody on Demand has helped me when I was at my lowest points in life to my high points in life.

My dad loves to play golf and I used to play a lot of golf with him until I started college.  I hope one day I will start playing again even though it's the most annoying game in the world ever invented.  At least that’s what Robin Williams said.  Get your dad a new set of golf clubs even if he threw his clubs in the water in frustration or bent the club in half like jaws from James Bond.

  1. Dial in your exercise and nutrition 

  2. Drink water 

  3. Track your food intake 

  4. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring so play a game of golf

  5. Be consistent so your new habits will stick

What Else Could You Possibly Do To Ensure That You Know Exactly How To Get A Summer Body?

In order to get your body ready for summertime, you need to prepare it. Here are some good steps to take to start getting ready:

  • Throw out all of your junk food in your house so you are not tempted to eat unhealthy food.

  • Make sure you get up every hour and walk around the house.

  • Get in the habit of going to bed at a consistent time.

  • Say no to alcohol because it can damage your liver and other important parts of your body.

  • Set a consistent time to work out.

  • Limit the negative things that surround you like the news.

  • Limit yourself to only one cheat meal a week or once a month if needed.

What Are You Willing To Commit To?

Have a sit down with yourself and ask yourself what am I willing to do? Be practical about these expectations. There are only 24 hours in a day for everyone so make the most of your day. If you need some ideas here are some of my commitments this summer.

  • Go to bed consistently at 10 pm.

  • Write down all of my negative self-talk in my journal.

  • Keep working out 6 days a week.

  • Only watch Netflix on the weekends or during the week of my vacation weeks.

  • Limit the number of extra projects to only one or two a day.

  • Learn something new at least once or twice a week.

  • Take care of my mental health every day even if it is just 30 minutes or an hour each day.

What Activities Bring You Happiness?

There are so many workout programs out there. Working out does not have to be boring. Do something that makes you happy.

  • Go for a bike ride

  • Join a kickboxing class

  • Swim laps in a pool

  • Run-on the treadmill

  • Use the elliptical

  • Go for a hike

  • Lift weights

  • Do some yoga

  • Get a Beachbody on Demand memerbship

  • Play golf

  • pick up a sport and practice it

  • Dance

  • Jump rope

How Much Water Should You Drink?

That depends on how active you are and whether you are male or female. I found this unique app called drink water reminder on Android. It reminds me every hour to drink water so I am always hydrated during the day.


When I first set it up it asked my height/weight and then it asked me how active I was. It told me I needed to drink 94 oz of water each day. It sounds intimidating at first but if you have a 32 oz water bottle that’s only 3 of those in a day.


I came up with a hack so I don’t always need to look at my phone to get reminded. Have you ever heard of Pushbullet? If not it's an amazing tool that you can send links, pictures, and documents across devices yourself.


Anyway, one of the best things I like about Pushbullet is that I set up mirrored notifications. So when I have a notification on my phone it will then mirror it on my computers, pretty handy right?

What Portion Size Should You Go For?

In my opinion, I try to have a balanced plate. I have veggies, carbs, protein, and fruits. I always believe in a balanced nutrition plan and it has worked for me. Since I am not a dietician or a nutritionist you may want to ask one of them.
