Let's Talk About Dehydration

It's the summer time which means a lot of hot weather.  When it gets really hot outside you are at risk of becoming dehydrated.  Today I want to talk about bad dehydration symptoms.

Unfortunately, I Know What Dehydration Feels Like

There was one day where I didn't drink any water what so ever.  I don't know why, but all I know that I will never let myself do that again.  The most unfortunate part about that day was that I had karate at night.  Let me tell you that being dehydrated in karate is a big no-no.  During that karate class after one round, I felt like I was going to faint and pass out.  However, I still kept pushing through.  After that day I decided to order myself a Hydro Flask from Amazon.  Now I bring a water bottle with me where ever I go.

What Are The Bad Dehydration Symptoms?

According to the Mayo Clinic dehydration symptoms can include:

  • Extreme thirst

  • Nausea

  • Dizziness

  • Dark-colored urine

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

  • Fatigue

  • Less frequent urination

  • Increased urination

  • Fever

  • Excessive sweating

  • Confusion

You should call a doctor if it continues to worsen.

  • Diarrhea for 24 hours or more

  • Black or bloody stool

  • Difficulty keeping fluids down

  • Disorientation

Remember even though beer, Gatorade, soda, and juice are all made with water, they do help you stay hydrated.  Drink your water and stay away from the other garbage out there!
