Recent Food Recalls 2018 Is Pretty Scary

Don't you think those food recalls are pretty scary?  Recent food recalls 2018 makes us pretty scared to open food in the office because you don't know what will pop out at you.  Let's talk about the most recent recall this week and then we will throw in some of the other bizarre recalls in earlier years.

Most Recent Food Recalls 2018 This Week

According to Faith Karimi who is a writer at CNN, wrote about that how some cereal, fruit trays and veggie trays are being recalled.  She also mentions which states and what stores that these foods are being recalled from.  let's check out some of these food that are being recalled, shall we?

Recent Food Recalls 2018 That Just Happened  On Sunday, June 17th 20018

  1. Kelloggs Honey Smacks Cereal - The Federal health wants everyone to throw away Kelloggs Honey Smacks Cereal because there was a salmonella outbreak sickened 73 people across Thirty One states. The FDA does not want any people eating this cereal no matter what size it is or what the expiration date on it says. Twenty four people have been sent to the hospital, there have been no deaths reported. New York has the highest number of cases -- seven -- while California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania have each reported five cases. Other states involved have reported between one and four case of illnesses.

    Symptoms Include:

Salmonella symptoms include fever, diarrhea and abdominal pain that begins 12 to 72 hours after exposure to the bacteria.

2.Del Monte Vegetable Tray -

The Food and Drug Administration says it's investigating at least 78 cases of cyclospora illnesses linked to recalled Del Monte vegetable trays. The trays contained broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and dill dip, and were sold in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

In addition, Del Monte is recalling small veggie trays that include broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and dill dip distributed in Illinois and Indiana, the FDA said in a statement.

Symptoms Includes:

Cyclospora cayetanensis is a microscopic parasite that contaminates food or water, and when ingested, causes an intestinal illness. Symptoms include diarrhea, with sometimes explosive bowel movements, loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and fatigue.

3. Cut Fruits - You know those awesome fruits that are cut and packaged for you?  Well, you may want to reconsider in buying those for a while.  Because the Food and Drug Administration is warning people in 23 states that the fruit may be contaminated with salmonella. The outbreak has affected 60 people mostly in five Midwestern states -- with about half of them hospitalized.Cut watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe as well as fruit salads containing these melons have been recalled in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The fruits were sold in stores such as Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, Sprouts Farmers Market, Costco and Whole Foods/Amazon.

Previously Recalled Foods In Earlier Months/Years

We Have An Idea

We have an Idea for the FDA.  Instead of just reporting this news to all the big time news companies like Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Ect.  What if on top of that you give each food company a billion dollar fine or a million dollar fine whichever you think is reasonable.  Once those food companies have to pay a hefty fine like that maybe they will soon learn that their products are full of too many chemicals and they are killing people and putting them in the hospital.  We know that we only mention three different examples but there are so many outbreaks a year that it wouldn't even fit on a page.  One would think after a while of all these outbreaks multiple times a year, the FDA would slap a million or billion dollars fine.

Be Careful Of The Food You Eat

The next time you go grocery shopping make sure you check out the FDA Recall Website and subscribe to their rss feed or sign-up for their alerts.  Remember how your parents said safety first?  Well, it would apply in this situation too.
