5 Problems with Boot Camp Experiences
Just Had My First Boot Camp Experience
Yesterday I had my very first boot camp experience. I have to admit it was a very interesting experience, but in my own opinion, I wouldn't recommend it has a weekly workout. Today you will find out what I like and what I did not like about my boot camp experience and why I would not recommend them.

Instructor focused on me a lot

Some exercises were too hard for beginner boot camp users (like me)
Not many modifications
Something Interesting That I Learned At My First Boot Camp Experience
There was something that stuck with me that I learned at my first boot camp experience. There was this lady there, I forget her name, but she told me that when you do a squat you should be squatting more than a 90-degree angle. I was like I never knew that before, I was like good to know. She said most personal trainers in the USA were taught to squat at a 90-degree angle, while personal trainers in other countries were taught to squat more than 90-degrees.
My Overall Experience Of my First Boot Camp Experience
I feel like overall my boot camp experience was good and bad at the same time. However, I don't like when instructors get in my face or make me feel like I am in the spotlight. I get it personal trainers and instructors have to correct form, but I felt like eyes were on me the whole time in this situation. One of the best part about my Karate class is that even though my Karate instructor comes up to me to correct something, he doesn't make me feel like he put me in the spotlight.
The After Burn Of My First Boot Experience Is Real
So after yesterday, I am having an afterburn. My neck area is feeling very tight and I mean more tight than usual which is not good because of my spinal stenosis. My shoulder blades are stiff like bricks and I need to foam roll really badly. So keep those things in mind if you are going to try a boot camp workout class.
Why I Don't Recommend Boot Camp After My First Boot Camp Experience
There is quite a bit of reason why I don't recommend boot camp workouts after my first boot camp experience. Here are some reasons why I don't recommend it.
Not Very Beginner Friendly For The First-Timers
I found out yesterday at my very first boot camp experience is that it's not very beginner friendly for the first-timers who are just trying it. Now I am not saying I am a beginner who just started working out, but I would have liked it if they had more beginner friendly moves instead of doing the whole kettlebell raise that basically made me feel not so strong.
Not Enough Calories Eaten For This Type Of Workout
Not it would have been nice to know of how many calories I should have eaten before this workout. I ate my usual breakfast which is egg whites and my oatmeal. But during the workout, I didn't feel like I had enough energy to keep going. Perhaps it would of been nice if someone told me how much I should eat. Plus during these types of workouts, the instructor doesn't tell you how important it is to have a nutritious meal after the workout or snack. So when I got home I felt like a wreck afterward.
Not Many Modifications
As you may know that I like to modify when something is either hard for me or it involves something with my neck. Well, yesterday during my first boot camp experience I did not feel like I could modify anything if I had to. I did not feel like I was in an environment where I could modify any exercise or skip an exercise.
Way Too Fast For My Liking
I don't mind going fast during Karate class, but when I am lifting heavy kettlebells and swinging them I do not like going so fast. I didn't feel like I had much control over how fast I could go. So it was way too fast in my opinion during my boot camp experience.
There is one more thing I want to point out about boot camp workouts that no one seems to talk about anymore. Boot camp workouts can be good for losing weight but they don't teach you on how to keep the weight off in the long run. It's basically burning so many calories in an hour, but it doesn't teach you how to keep that weight off. What happens when you get older and you can't do that kind of stuff anymore. During my first boot camp experience, yesterday went good and bad. I don't recommend this type of workout if you are trying to lose weight. But if you are fit like me and crazy too, then you should just try one just for grins and jollies to see if it's right for you. As you have found out I do not care for such workout classes like this.
