How To Manage Time Effectively Can Be Hard

I have to admit that time management is not in my area of expertise yet.  I tried working with a job coach on that and that went down south very quick.  For a while, I thought I could get everything done in a day, but just recently I just could not take the frustration and aggravation anymore with squeezing stuff in whenever I feel like it.  We all have busy lives so managing one's time is very important.  Today we are going to discuss how to manage time effectively.

The Ultimate Guide To How To Manage Time Effectively

Before we get started I just want to say that these tips that I am about to share with you, may not work for everyone.  They have worked for me, but I am just sharing with you some tips that have helped me with managing my time more efficiently.

Use A Calendar

I like to use a digital calendar because I do not like writing on paper.  My hand tires more easily than other people and plus my handwriting is very sloppy.  So having a digital calendar really helps me a lot.  My mom really likes paper calendars because she doesn't like technology very much.  I am very particular about digital calendars.  Here are a few settings that I look for in calendars.

  • Clean Interface - meaning is it easy to read

  • User-Friendly - meaning is it easy to use on a daily basis. Does it add events easily without so many dialogues boxes?

  • Calendar Support - which calendars does the calendar app support? Google, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, and Facebook.

  • Pricing - not all calendars on Android and IOS are free. Some are pricey and some are reasonable for the extra bells and whistles.

  • Which devices does it support? - is it on Android, IOS, Windows, and Mac?

My favorite calendar app for how to manage my time effectively is called One Calendar.  What makes One Calendar an awesome calendar to manage your time effectively is the user-friendliness, supports multiple different calendars,  supports Windows, Android, IOS, and I believe Mac.  Plus the interface is cleaner than Google Calendar official app.  The app is free, but it also has an in-app purchase for Windows for extra colors.

How To Manage Time Effectively With A Calendar?

Before you start adding stuff to your calendar, start writing on a piece of paper what the most important thing that you like to do during the day.  Then start by thinking what is the second most important thing.  Keep going until you have all the things you do in a week in a list format.  Then start thinking about how long each thing on your list takes.  Schedule block of times for the stuff on your list and put them on different days of the week.  Remeber to schedule some fun time for yourself.

My Example Of How To Manage Time Effectively With A Calendar

Let me tell you on how I set up my own schedule on my own calendar.  I have a time block for a 1 hour and 30 min to write a post for my website 5 days a week.  Starting at 9 am in the morning.  Then I have Biology online course scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday at 1 - 3 pm.  At 3: 30 pm  I scheduled an hour of reading a book during the week.  On Wednesday and Sunday, I have my Google Analytics online course for 30 min and then before that Saturday and Sunday is my website maintenance days.

How To Manage Time Effectively With A To Do List?

I find that using a To Do list alongside with a calendar is a very productive use of my time.  During my website maintenance days I just want to focus two hours on sprucing up my website in different ways.   Maybe moving something around or fixing a broken link, page or whatever.  I am going to start putting in my To Do List app of what I want to work on during those two hours that I blocked out in my calendar app.  Whatever, I get done in those two hours will have to wait until next weekend.  If you have a list of the stuff you like to get done in those two hours then you won't get sidetracked by what you would have liked to get done.

How To Manage Time Effectively With Microsoft To Do List?

I have to admit I am a big fan of Microsoft To Do List ever since Microsoft shut down Wunderlist.  I was upset that they did that, but life goes on and if you like technology one will have to adapt to the constant changes.  I wish I could tell you that I have been using this method every day, but that would be a lie.  I still need to add this To Do List to my time management strategy.  But, starting next week I am going to be implementing this into my schedule.  First I am going to create a list called website maintenance and then whenever there is something wrong with my website that I can control I am going to just add it to the list.  Then once the weekend comes I will add 2 or 3 items to my day section in the app.  If I get all of that stuff done then I will continue to add more to my day section until the 2 hours is up.

How To Manage Time Effectively When You Don't Feel Like You Accomplished Much?

Most of the time some people can't get everything they want to be done in one day.  I have seen people try.  My Mom has this list that she has for years and she gets so overwhelmed by it that she is tired every day because it just hangs over her head.  Of course, I tried to tell her there is probably a better way of managing that list, but she doesn't like many of my ideas because they all deal with technology.  But if you don't feel like you accomplished much in a day.  Then do what I do and just say I got done what I got done and tomorrow is another day.  Life happens and other stuff gets in the way and it's not the end of the world.

Sorry For Being Absent

Sorry for being absent the last two days.  My SEO ( Search Engine Optimization) tool decided to stop working on me.  I had to call in the developer and get it fixed.  That's what happens when you beta tests a live tool on your live website.  Note to self that was not a smart idea on my part lol.  Either way please don't think I have jumped ship from this website because it won't happen ever, I hope.  If it does happen I will at least make one more post to tell everyone.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will see you again back here again on Monday.  I am heading to a wedding this weekend for my one of my best friend.  Don't forget to check out my Instagram feed for a chance to see me in my tuxedo!  I kid you not that you don't want to miss it!
