How Did French Fries Become A Side?
Have you ever wonder how did french fries become a side? Well, I have and quite frankly I don’t think it should be anymore.
So How Did French Fries Become A Side - The History Of The Frie
According to National Geographic:
The French fry—though indisputably a fry—may not actually be French. Some claim that fries originated in Belgium, where villagers along the River Meuse traditionally ate fried fish. In winter, when the river froze, the fish-deprived villagers fried potatoes instead. It’s said that this dish was discovered by American soldiers in Belgium during World War I and, since the dominant language of southern Belgium is French, they dubbed the tasty potatoes “French” fries.
According to Ed Witte,
Don't try to make it too tough to figure out. Their cheap, easy to make and can be consumed using your fingers after dipping them in ketchup. No big deal but they don't sit at the top of the healthiest food list either! Quora
How Did French Fries Become A Side When They Have a Nothing Special About Them
In my own opinion there is nothing special about French Fries. They are just cut up potato slices thrown into a deep fryer. Super unhealthy and gross in my own opinion. Its just salty. It’s not like ice cream where they have a bunch of flavors or its made soft serve or frozen. It just fried and that’s it.
Why I Don’t Eat French Fries Anymore
I don’t know that last time I had french fries at a restaurant or a fast food chain. The only thing that I know it must be years ago. I don’t even miss them for a few reasons.
Sometimes they are cold when you get them
Fried foods causes pimples for me
Too much salt
They can cause weight gain
As you can see I tend to stay away from french fries for very good reasons. I am still curious how did french fries become a side.
How Did French Fries Become A Side When Restaurants Rip You Off
Have you ever been to a restaurant or a fast food chain and asked them to hold the fries because you don’t want them? Well, have you ever notice that restaurants and fast food chains still charge you the same price even without the fries? I don’t know if that’s only where I live but come on lower the price if I don’t want the fries, am I right?
I thought of some healthy alternatives to french for restaurants and fast food chains that might not break the bank for them.
The list could keep going on and on. We probably could just list every fruit and vegetable out there known to humans, but then we would be here for ages. Just a thought to think for restaurants and fast food chains.
French fries are an overrated side that I don’t understand how they became a side. Before you leave I got one question for you, because french fries are so unhealthy for us and the FDA has told people many times that fried food are unhealthy, then why can restaurants and fast food chains still sell them?
