What Are The Benefits Of Learning Material Arts?

1. Karate Teaches Self Defense

You may already know that I used to be bullied in school when I was younger. I not going to repeat the story, but Karate helped me stand up against the bullies. Without learning self defense I don't think I could have done that.

2. Karate Builds Self Confidence

Overcoming bullying helped build my self confidence. I truly believe the martial arts boost my self confidence to create this website.

3. Martial Arts Teaches Non Quitting Spirit

As you know from my last post life of a blogger, there are times I could quit supporting this website. The martial arts taught me non quitting spirit. Just because something is hard doesn't mean you should give up.

4. Karate Helps Relieve Stress And Frustrations

Sometimes as a blogger I tend to get frustrated at stuff. Which then turns into stress. But I know when I walk off the mat after Karate class I feel refreshed. All the frustrations and stress left on the mat, it's one of the best feelings ever.

5. Builds Family And Friends

Family doesn't always have to be blood related. I consider everyone that I see at Tiger Shulmann's Karate part of my family. You could call it like a second family. I also consider everyone friends because they are always happy to see me and they always asking how I am.

6. Karate Is A Great Total Body Workout





I consider Karate to be a great total body workout because of all the kicks and punches. Then after 6 or 7 rounds of kickboxing we then do strength training.




What Are The Benefits Of Martial Arts For Adults?

While Karate is great for kids, teenagers and young adults like myself. Karate can also benefit older adults.





7. Creates A Fun Workout





Over the years while I use to workout at a gym with my Dad. I saw many of the same people who came in day in and day out doing the same exercises. Eventually they gave up and quit for a while and restart again. Karate creates a fun workout with different techniques that you have to practice. At least at my dojo they switch it up every week.




8. Karate Teaches Patience




One of the things that I like most about Tiger Shulmann's Karate is that they teach patience. How you may ask? For starters they just don't give out belts. Belts and stripes have to be earned. This can help teach adults or parents to be more patient to their loved ones, and family members.

9. Builds Trust

I know for myself at least that Karate helps me to build trust with others. I have to trust my partner that he or she won't damage my neck with my spinal stenosis. This can also help adults who work with a team in the office to help dedicate more work to them. By doing this you are trusting they will get it done.

10. Teaches Respect

Karate teaches me how to respect everyone, even if I may disagree with someone. I respect my Sensai, Joshus, and Sempis. Respect can benefit adults at their jobs or around their family members. In fact it can benefit in every aspect of your life.

11. Helps Lose Weight

Like I said karate is a great total body workout, but it can also help adults lose weight.

12. Helps With Flexibility

Sitting all day is not good for your body. Don't worry I make the same mistake as well. But Karate helps my tight muscles and ligaments to be more flexible. Which is important as you get older.

13. Makes You Sleep Like A Baby

Every time when I get home from karate I fall asleep so fast. Then the next morning I woke up and felt like I got good night sleep. It's important to get a good night sleep and karate will kock you out very fast after class.

What Are The Disadvantages Of Martial Arts?

Now that we over the benefits of martial arts for adults. Now it's time to talk about the disadvantages of martial arts.

  • Bloody cuts or bruises

  • Torn muscle or ligament

As you can see the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. Basically no matter what sport you practice any number of those things can happen. But it doesn't mean it will happen.

Karate is my favorite sport to practice because it has all these wonderful benefits. Sometimes I worry about disadvantages but like I said the pros weigh out the cons any day of the week.
